The admission process

Admission to the college is not automatic. Learners must apply for admission and are subject to a selection process involving an interview with the principal attended by the prospective student and parent / guardian. The interview is followed by a short campus tour to view first-hand the facilities and learning environment on offer.

Careful consideration is given to each application. Important factors that are considered include the student’s matric results, future study option(s) and required additional APS points required. Commitment, honesty, desirable traits of character and acceptance of self-accountability in-line with the ethos and values of the college are also taken into account.

Attendance, of an interview and receipt of an application form, does not automatically imply acceptance. Once an acceptance letter has been received, the applicant’s seat is only confirmed on receipt of the necessary deposit payment, and subject to space still being available for the subject(s) applied for. Should there be no seats left, the deposit paid will be refunded to the applicant.

Prospective UFA students need to be fully committed to daily attendance and the completion of the full program with related commitments and undertakings.

Providing false or incomplete information on the application for admission or during the interview process may result in a denial of admission or revocation of the enrolment. All UFA program students are subject to the standard college code of conduct, policies, rules and regulations.

Steps in the application process:

  • Contact college and book a time and date for an interview to be attended by the applicant accompanied by at least one parent / guardian. This gives the opportunity for all parties to ask relevant questions, and also the opportunity for the applicants to view the college’s facilities. (Please bring matric results / certificate to the interview)
  • After interview, applicants that the college feel could benefit from the UFA program and have realistic expectations will be given an application form. (no application forms are given without the interview process being completed)
  • Successful interviewees who wish to apply for enrolment, the application form accompanied by the necessary supporting documentation must be submitted to the college secretary with the accompanying application fee. Seat availability needs to be re-confirmed by the applicant on submission of application.
  • On receipt of written acceptance, pay necessary deposits to confirm seat in grade. Please note, a learners place is only confirmed once the full required deposit has been received by the college. Commence attending college per application agreement. (It must be noted that if a particular subject class is full due to a delay in the necessary deposits being received, regardless of acceptance letter – the acceptance will be annulled based on capacity constraints.)

Prospective students are requested to make applications timeously to avoid disappointment. Please note, post matric enrolments after end – January cannot be cancelled – due to the seats being very limited.
